anderson choir has been invited to by The Pines to perform during the christmas season (aka carolling). however, due to syf and etc, the choir might not be able to handle it.

so, mrs sin has extended the invitation to the chorus to perform.

me and huda are collecting names of interested people.
its 24th/25th December 2008. pls get back to us so we can consolidate the numbers.

we're calling for alumni members interested to go for the end-of-year competition with Anderson Choir (first week of December 2008). tentative budget for the trip is $2.5k.

ATTN ANDALUMNI

Do you guys wanna perform for a play? Khairul might be directing a Greek play with an asian/ archipelago-ish/ balinese/ pinoy/ malay-ish concept. It's a beyond tentative thing, but K wants to see if you guys are interested, etc etc?

The play's called Birds by Aristophanes. And if we do perform we'll be singing songs like. Um. Pamugun, I think. And Gamelan/Pokpok . And-- stuff like that la. Oh, it'll be around. December/January/February-ish? i.e. after your exams and promos and other exhausting, depressing things. :D

So jab me if you have questions. (No literal jabbing ah or I will give you The Murderous Look). Tell me if you are interested or not, okay? Okay go. And by that I mean tag on the tagboard please, woohoo.

Also, dinner, anyone?

Hello darlings, we shall be meeting up for dinner on the 17th of June. To hang out & chill out etcetera etcetera. So, since Anderson's hosting a workshop, we shall be watching them & the rest of the schools, etcetera etcetera, sing and sing and sing. Hahaha.

Meet at 4 in Anderson to watch! :) We'll go have dinner afterwards! Haha. Please confirm that you're going with me so we don't miss people, etcetera, etcetera.

alright, 3 days to our DEBUT. the Alumni Chorus DEBUT.

so this the final plan.
performance details as such:

4 songs:
Sigulempong - cond. yukang
Adam Lay Ybounden - cond. yeeching
Pasigin - cond. khairul
Te Quiero - cond. yeeching

we will be performing in the second half, after the acapella.

OUTFIT: RED & BLACK THEME
guys have standardized to wear black shirt and red tie, yes?
SO GIRLS!!! time to be funky and happening!! polkadots! stripes! laces! don't be boring, the guys are already... sigh.


PRE-CONCERT
Meeting at 1200 @ City Hall MRT
Lunch and what not... (get me food!! i cant join you guys - will be with the main choir. sobs.)
2pm >> VCH, tentatively to have combined warmups with main choir. (hopefully la)
this is the breakdown of rehearsal slots:
2.00 - 5.oo Choir
5.oo - 5.30 Alumni Chorus
5.30 - 6.00 ACS Choir


so after our rehearsal slot... dinner... change.... we take photos (many many photos)......
and be ready by 6.45.
We'll do a last sound check for ourselves.

phew. last saturday went really well, thank god.
first round of sigulempong and adam for mrs sin was really good but we lost steam after that.
pasigin was messy (we'll KIV this and try to sing again).
te quero is the tentative replacement for pasigin, (so i'll be learning a new song gargh) and the rest of you just refresh your notes for te quero aye? okay.

dress code... black and white will look rather messy on stage (i think la).
and some people think that entirely black will look very, eeks.
so i'd suggest we go for GrayScale (meaning, black and all shades of grey, but not white - too contrasting la) any comments?

hopefully we can let ms lim hear us. eeks.

5 more practices (or so) to go!

hello all!
we have successfully completed 2 saturday practices - and both weren't to bad, just that it's unfortunate that some of you cannot make it.

as told by some, jc choirs also have practices on sats morning, so eeks. very hard. and some of you are going to fly off to italy (is it?), double eeks!

i hope we can really get the full strength to combine the songs and to reaffirm that we sound alright and fine. we're not going for SYF or rive del garda (or somesort) but, just get the chords and pitching right (me included - still working on some notes.) so we don't lose face (whats the chinese phrase? sia sway?) while performing on stage.

the concert is coming really close - next month! and we have few practices left.

[j2s might need time out to revise for common tests the following week, and some jc peeps are flying off for competition, so i'll keep this date tentative and will confirm when i can get response - TAG!)

we'll see how we progress and then confirm again whether the conductors are required to be in the chorus.

it was a fruitful session last Saturday, albeit it was just sops and basses.
normally it is altos and tenors dominating - so what it means?
we actually have a decent number (add all the sections together)!

• outfit theme for alumni chorus is black/white/grayscale
• concert is 12th April (Saturday) VCH
• our slot is in the 2nd half (with acapella & musical)

from what i've gathered - next week is common test week for the JCs, so JC peeps might not be able to make it this Saturday? yes? no? tell me if we should cancel the session... (TAG)

well done to us!
i remembered someone saying "hey! we sound like a choir!"

it wasn't too bad for a first practice -combined, in fact- despite that some of us have not sung for 4 years! yikes! actually, no. we sounded quite good, though we're lacking in tenors severely. (okay honestly, we'll be glad to get more numbers though guys esp.)

next practice will be the friday after CNY.
i wiiiiiiiiiiillllllll try to squeeeeeeeeeze in a saturday practice for our dear NSboys and others who want to join but cannot make it on fridays.

anyhoo! it was a great first practice!

i cant get the school to operate on saturdays/weekends - so for this we need to source our own venue.
i need the response to see how many prefer weekdays or weekends.
we will have our first meeting this friday 25th January 2008.
(actually, the dates below are what that i have booked with the school, so don't be alarmed - cos, it just means that we have these dates to practice at these places)
